The best part of my job is getting to see what amazing projects our clients are working on, and it is particularly gratifying when the GoingOn platform is a key component in making those projects work. We recently announced a partnership with SUNY Empire State College and we are already seeing the great work they are doing. Hosted on the GoingOn platform, the Project for Critical Inquiry (PCI) at Empire State College is a "venue for interdisciplinary work in an open learning environment." By combining access to a wealth of educational resources with the mentorship of a faculty member, the Project for Critical Inquiry develops students who are not passive consumers of information, but rather have a deep understanding of the context and implications of a body of knowledge. National Writing Project (NWP), our partner and client, is a network of educators working to improve the teaching of writing across 200 nationwide chapter sites. We've recently partnered with them to connect their nationwide members and enable greater collaboration and exchanging of ideas. They launched NWP Connect as an "open, interactive online community where educators can share ideas and explore practices connected to the teaching of writing and the work of the National Writing Project." The best part is that each local chapter can create it's own community, distinct in look and feel, but connected to all other communities such that content and identities can traverse the network. Melissa brings 15 years of experience in higher education, K12 and corporate environments focused on improving the quality of education for students of all ages. She is a faculty member at Pepperdine's masters in Learning Technologies program.
